ASCENSION FROM TRAUMA
Ascension or “Enlightenment”, or a profound spiritual awakening, can sometimes follow a traumatic experience because trauma shatters an individual’s existing worldview and ego, forcing them to search for deeper meaning and a fundamental shift in perception. This process is part of a psychological phenomenon called post-traumatic growth. Causing an expansion of the individuals consciousness.
The key mechanisms through which this transformation occurs include:
Ego Disruption and Surrender:
Trauma can annihilate a person’s “ego” or centralized sense of self, which is often attached to a false sense of control and identity. When the egoic structure is crushed by overwhelming pain or loss, individuals are forced to surrender, leading to a profound shift in identification from the limited self to a broader, more expanded universal consciousness.
Existential Reboot and Search for Meaning:
A traumatic event often results in a “dark night of the soul,” challenging previously held beliefs about life’s purpose, fairness, and reality. This intense suffering acts as a catalyst, prompting a desperate search for meaning, solace, and stability, which often leads individuals to explore spirituality, philosophy, and introspection on a much deeper level than they might have otherwise. It leads to a profound search for truths but from a new perception of being able to look also at dark truths. The aim is to unlearn and relearn what is actually more real and truthful, even if it’s upsetting. As the pursuit of truth becomes priority over once held personal sentiments.
Neuroplastic Reset and Heightened Awareness:
The brain and nervous system undergo significant stress and rewiring during and after trauma. This forced evolution can lead to altered states of consciousness and a heightened state of awareness or hypervigilance, which, with the right guidance and self-reflection (such as through meditation), can be channeled into mystical experiences or profound insights into the nature of reality.
Fostering Compassion and Purpose:
Survivors of trauma often develop a heightened sense of empathy and purpose, as their suffering allows them to connect with others’ pain and channel their experiences into meaningful actions, such as becoming advocates or healers. This shift in focus from personal suffering to a shared human experience contributes to spiritual growth.
It is important to note that trauma itself is not a prerequisite for enlightenment, and not everyone who experiences trauma will undergo this type of spiritual transformation. This is unique of the individual’s abilities to either crumble and fall, or for some to gain strength and rise.
The potential for growth depends on how an individual processes their experiences, moving through feelings and emotions toward healing and a new expanded perspective, rather than becoming stuck in victimhood or darkness.
Spiritual practices like meditation and mindfulness are considered safer and more grounded ways to facilitate this growth and healing. As usually trauma is not a voluntary process and is not asked for or purposefully sought out by the individual.
Trauma is often used by the military with programs like MkUltra and other psychological manipulation to induce an awakening or ascension. This is so that the individuals affected are able to think on a more expanded real-time level and they are considered an asset for special forces and specific types of operations.
I do not recommend anyone puts themself through traumatic situations on purpose with the aim of ascending. Most trauma is an accidental process from a situation or from an interaction with other people.
The other routes to ascension are attained from spiritual practices, sexual practices or taking drugs. Each has their own set of energy dynamics. If you wish to ascend you have to be prepared to know that you’ve been lied to and so the cultural conditioning you created your belief systems from will need to be unlearned and relearned.
This cleansing of what your false beliefs are then allows for more deeper truthful insights, as you are more able to look at multiple perspectives including entertaining people’s views that are the opposite to yours, but without entangling in them or being affected by them or reacting to them.
